The rotating display concept sounds like a gimmick until you actually use the Echo Show 10 for video calls in a kitchen. The frustration of a fixed-display smart screen — needing to stand precisely in front of it to be framed in a call, or having to look sideways at a recipe as you move from the counter to the stove — disappears with face-following. The motor is quiet enough to not be intrusive, and the tracking is smooth rather than jerky.
The 13 MP camera with auto-framing is the best camera of any device in this comparison. Not only does it follow you around the room, but the auto-framing algorithm adjusts to keep you centred in frame as you move. For video calls with family, the experience is notably better than standing in front of a fixed-display device or holding a phone.
Beyond the rotating mechanism, the Echo Show 10 is essentially a more capable Echo Show 8 in terms of screen size and specification. The 10.1-inch 1080p display is bright and sharp. Fire TV is available for streaming. AZ2 Neural Edge provides local Alexa processing. The Zigbee hub is present.
