The Dreame L30 Ultra is Roborock's most direct competitor, and on mopping performance it arguably leads. The hot-water mop pad washing system heats water before circulating it through the cleaning cycle, producing noticeably more hygienic pads than the cold-rinse approach used by Eufy and Ecovacs. After two weeks of daily mopping in our tests, the Dreame's pads remained visibly cleaner than rivals using cold-water washing.
The dual flat-mop design, with two rectangular pads rather than spinning discs, extends further under low-clearance furniture than any competing system. This matters significantly in real homes where sofas and bed frames sit close to the floor. The 10,000 Pa suction is identical to the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra in specification and comparable in practice.
Navigation uses 3D ToF (time-of-flight) LiDAR combined with an RGB camera, producing accurate multi-room maps in normal and low-light conditions. Obstacle avoidance is good but slightly trails Roborock's ReactiveAI 2.0 on small items — in our testing the Dreame missed thin cables slightly more often.
The dock is functional but physically larger than the Roborock equivalent, which matters in smaller spaces. The Dreame app has improved substantially in 2025 and is now genuinely usable, though still less polished than Roborock's or iRobot's offerings in some market localisations.
At $999 — $100 less than the S8 MaxV Ultra — the L30 Ultra makes a strong case for hard-floor-heavy homes where the hot-water mop washing advantage is felt daily. For homes with more carpet than hard floors, the Roborock's superior obstacle avoidance and equivalent vacuum performance make it the better choice.
