The Purple GelFlex Grid is unlike any other mattress material. It is a hyper-elastic polymer that forms an open hexagonal lattice. The grid walls collapse under concentrated pressure points (hips, shoulders, knees) while remaining rigid under distributed weight. The result is that pressure points sink in for relief while the rest of the body stays supported. Foam achieves contouring through compression. The grid achieves it through structural collapse — it yields immediately and then stops.
The Restoring Premier uses a 4-inch grid layer — thicker than the standard Purple mattress — which provides more give and more pronounced pressure relief. For side sleepers with shoulder sensitivity, this depth makes a measurable difference.
The temperature regulation is the grid's most significant advantage. Because the hexagonal cells are open to air on all sides, heat dissipates through the mattress rather than accumulating.
